Belgium: ‘Texture of Time: Belgium Contemporary Art Exhibition’ opens, featuring 16 artists

With the support of the Embassy of Belgium, the highly anticipated “Textures of Time: Contemporary Art from Belgium” exhibition officially opened in Beijing on January 17. 

The exhibition showcases works by 16 leading contemporary Belgian artists, presenting the depth and diversity of Belgian art across painting, sculpture and installation. As a major event of the 2023 Belgian Cultural and Art Season, the exhibition aims to connect audiences in China and Belgium through the universal language of art. 

The exhibition features an impressive lineup of 16 Belgian artists, with the concept of “time” serving as the exhibition’s central theme. It places Belgium, located in the heart of Europe, as the cultural context for this artistic journey. The exhibition, through highlighting Belgium’s outstanding contemporary art, offers Chinese audiences a profound insight into Belgian contemporary art through its unique styles and artistic depth. 

In addition to some renowned figures, the exhibition also presents a wide array of less-known artistic approaches. The diverse collection reflects the layered textures of time in both the personal and collective experiences of artists, while serving as a visual testimony to the deep cultural exchanges between China and Belgium.
