The Calhoun County Prosecutor’s Office is displaying artwork created by sexual assault survivors in its Victim’s Unit, according to a community announcement.
The artwork, provided by Bronson Sexual Assault Services (SAS), is intended to show support for survivors and raise awareness about sexual assault and abuse.
The display is part of a collaboration between the Calhoun County Victims’ Unit and SAS to provide advocacy and support for youth and caregivers involved in child abuse cases.
Each April, SAS hosts a benefit dinner to raise funds for programs supporting survivors and their families. This year, two pieces of artwork created by survivors were purchased by community partners during a silent auction and donated for display.

The first piece, titled “Survivor Ribbons,” features colorful ribbons with words and images expressing what survivorship means to each artist. The second piece, “Handprints,” is a collection of multi-colored handprints encircling a teal ribbon, the national symbol of sexual assault awareness and prevention.
“Displaying this survivor artwork in our Victims’ Unit serves as a powerful reminder of the positive impact local resources have on victims of abuse,” Calhoun County Prosecutor David Gilbert said in the announcement. “The hope is they will encourage conversation and empower more victims to report their experiences and seek help.”
The prosecutor’s office is committed to supporting survivors, raising awareness and strengthening partnerships that provide critical services to those impacted by sexual assault and abuse.
