The works of 150 local and international artists will be showcased across 18 different galleries at the inaugural Art & Bali 2025, a two-day extravaganza of exhibitions, performances, talks and after-dark art celebrations at Bali’s new Nuanu Creative City in September. A world-famous hub for creativity in South-East Asia with a centuries-long tradition of Hindu art, Bali is no stranger to international art fairs. From the Bali Arts Festival, a month-long celebration of Balinese art, music and dance, to the Bali Spirit Festival and almost weekly exhibition openings at trendy cafes, bars and event spaces in the tourist mecca of Canggu, the island’s annual art calendar is chock-a-block. But Art & Bali is the first of its kind: an international art fair focusing on contemporary works that explores the areas “between tradition and innovation, nature and technology, the local and global”, according to organisers.
Think meticulously curated exhibitions from leading Indonesian and South-East Asian galleries; contemporary masterpieces from Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Spain; artist-led talks and walkthroughs; immersive installations; and a dedicated program for art patrons and collectors. A monumental installation by Heri Dono, a renowned Indonesian contemporary artist, will be unveiled for the first time, while each evening will welcome performances at sunset blending light, sound and dance, followed by concerts, DJ sets and under-the-stars light shows.
The fair will also mark the unveiling of the second phase of the THK Tower, a 30m high interactive wooden lighthouse with more than 1000 light fixtures that pays tribute to the Balinese Tri Hita Karana philosophy of harmony between people, nature, and the divine.
