The iconic hotel has reopened the Kohler Waters Spa, providing cosy relaxation areas, intimate treatment rooms, and thermal experiences
An iconic Scottish hotel overlooking the legendary Old Course has unveiled its newly transformed spa. St Andrews’ Old Course Hotel has revealed the revamped Kohler Waters Spa, following a five-month renovation that introduces Scotland’s most advanced contrast therapy experience.
Central to the upgrade is a striking KLAFS-designed snow and sauna cabin, allowing guests to alternate between hot and cold treatments to promote healing.
Recently named Scottish Spa of the Year 2024 by The Times 50 Best UK Spa Guide, the revamped spa embraces the Scottish tradition of Coorie, the art of seeking warmth and comfort after exposure to the cold. The design provides cosy relaxation areas, intimate treatment rooms, and thermal experiences to create a sense of sanctuary for visitors.
“Our spa transformation embodies both the invigorating and nurturing aspects of Scottish wellness,” said Phyllis Wilkie, General Manager at Old Course Hotel.
“The concept of Coorie is central to our new facilities – after experiencing the powerful benefits of contrast therapy throughout their spa journey, guests can retreat into spaces designed for ultimate comfort and warmth.
“We’re creating a sanctuary that celebrates both movement and recovery, challenge and indulgence in equal measure, all within easy reach for guests across Fife, the Central Belt and beyond.”
The spa’s thermal suite includes an upgraded hydrotherapy area and the UK’s first Espuro Foam Experience Steam Room. These facilities are complemented by calm relaxation zones featuring soft furnishings, warming teas, and restorative ambience.
The new treatment menu incorporates premium skincare brands such as Omorovicza, GROUND, Margaret Dabbs and Phytomer, chosen for their efficacy, respect for nature, and commitment to sustainable practices.
Old Course Hotel has also partnered with Edinburgh wellness expert Anna Deacon, author of Taking the Plunge, to launch an exclusive series of seasonal wellness retreats.
The inaugural Step into Summer Retreat begins on Saturday May 2 2026, featuring special guest Louise Minchin, broadcaster, endurance athlete, and author.
Attendees will take part in expert-led contrast therapy sessions using the spa’s new KLAFS facilities, alongside cold-water swimming, yoga, meditation, photography, and mindful practices designed to strengthen the connection with the inner self.
The retreat, priced from £385 per person for a one-night stay based on two people sharing, includes all activities, a spa treatment, and meals. Single occupancy starts at £495, while extended stay options on Friday or Sunday nights range from £275 for single occupancy and £325 for double occupancy.
In addition, the spa offers a Signature Spa Day Package, Exhale, featuring a 25-minute facial and 25-minute massage, followed by access to hydrotherapy pools, saunas, and a plant-forward lunch at the Spa Café, priced at £155 per person.
The Perfect Break residential package starts from £485 for two people sharing and combines an overnight stay with access to the transformed spa, a spa gift in-room, a two-course seasonal dinner at the Road Hole Restaurant, and a full Scottish breakfast the next morning. This package is available from September 15, 2025, to March 31, 2026, excluding December 24 to January 1, 2026.
Guests can access the spa from 8am to 10am and 6pm to 8pm and may book exclusive sessions in the KLAFS snow and sauna cabin, experiencing the benefits of fire and ice, from £50 per person.
