Art Attack presenter Neil Buchanan looks completely different almost two decades after leaving the CITV show behind. Beloved children’s TV host Neil took up the presenting mantle in 1990 and stayed on until the programme ended in 2007, before he was replaced by Lloyd Warbey for a brief stint between 2012 and 2015.
But for Neil, he stepped away from the world of television after his Art Attack career. Aside from a brief appearance on ITV’s Celebrity Juice in 2012, he’s stayed largely out of the public eye – but wa sat one point playing music with his heavy metal band Marseille.
The band formed in 1976 and have released four albums over the years, splitting for a brief period while Neil presented Art Attack and reforming in 2009. He stepped away from the band in 2017 to become a consultant for children’s television.
Now the star looks completely unrecognisable in recent photos, with the Aintree-born star sporting a dapper beard and greying hair in his latest snaps. One photo shows Neil donning a leather jacket and a white T-shirt with his arms folded across his chest, grinning at the camera.
In another snap taken from his heavy metal days, he sported longer brown tresses and left his muscular arms bare, wearing jeans and a leather vest as he strummed his guitar on stage.
It comes after Neil was forced to deny rumours that he is secretive street artist Banksy, with a 2020 statement reading: “Neil Buchanan ISN’T Banksy. We have been inundated with enquiries over the weekend regarding the current social media story.
“Unfortunately this website does not have the infrastructure to answer all these enquiries individually, however we can confirm that there is no truth in the rumour whatsoever.”
It added: “Neil spent lockdown with vulnerable members of his family and is now preparing to launch his new art collection in 2021. Thank you and please stay safe.”
The 68-year-old continues to make art and shows it on his website – but otherwise stays away from the spotlight.
