Art exploring identity featured in new exhibition in Cheltenham

Textile works by 12 artists examining themes including body, identity, gender and race are coming to a Gloucestershire gallery.

Material Worlds, a touring show of London’s Hayward Gallery, was curated by artist Caroline Achaintre and is coming to The Wilson, in Cheltenham, on 19 September.

Jonathan Baldock, Marc Camille Chaimowicz, Alexandre Da Cunha, Tonico Lemos Auad and Paul Maheke will be among artists exhibited.

According to the Cheltenham gallery’s website the show “explores how artists are using textiles in surprising and radical ways”.
