Art Expo Show returns: Carolina Artists guild celebrate 35 years of sharing the magic of art

The Carolina Artists guild will be hosting its annual Art Expo Show and Sale from Sept. 16-20 at the Salisbury Civic Center. This year will be the 35th year of The Carolina Artists offering an annual art exhibit since the guild was created in 1990.
The show will offer five days of fabulous art for everyone in the community to enjoy. Pieces talented local artists will be available for purchase and for your viewing pleasure. Admission is free.
Exhibits are open from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16, with the Meet the Artist reception at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Winners will be announced, sponsors recognized and awards will be presented to the artists. Music will be provided by All Things Musizal.
Additional show hours are Sept. 17-19, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday, Sept. 20, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
This year’s show will feature 280 pieces of artwork by 42 participants. Artists Andy Mooney and James Taylor will be demonstrating pen & ink and watercolor techniques during the reception in the main gallery. Guests are encouraged to interact with the artists.
Art categories are oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels, drawing, mixed media, photography, digital and fluid art and sculpture.
The Artist Showcase Gift Shop will be available featuring artist prints, small artwork, hand-crafted jewelry, paintings and more. It’s the perfect way to support your favorite artists and start your gift and holiday shopping.
A new and exciting addition to the 2025 Art Expo is The People’s Choice Award. Attendees will be given the opportunity to vote for their favorite piece of artwork. The award to the winning artist will be made at the close of the show.
The Carolina Artists guild was created by local artists to have the specific purpose of supporting, nurturing and promoting local artists and taking art directly to the public. It has achieved that through art shows, art education and workshops, community service and being a visible part of community events and public art throughout the year.
The members represent a very diverse group of artists ranging from 3D and junk art, watercolors, pottery, acrylics, oils, pastels, digital & fluid art, pen & ink, colored pencil, photography, sculpture, abstract, window and mural art. There is something for everyone, beginner to advanced artist.
Many talented and award-winning local artists will be exhibiting at the show. Clyde, abstract and impressionistic artist; Connie Penninger, inspirational and impressionistic; Janet Isenhour, watercolor and mixed media; Mary Ellen Bennett, 3D and creative junk artist; Marshall Stokes and Andy Mooney, hyperrealism artists; Deborah Fredette, portrait and oil artist; Joyce Darling, pottery; Dr. Mary-Louise Hooper, landscape artist; Gale Rathburn, animal artist; Brian Keith Holiday, photography; Cherrathee Hager, window, mural and commission artist; James Taylor, Keith Kahrs and Carlton Jackson.

The Carolina Artists meet at 6:30 p.m. the third Thursday of each month at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salisbury (Faith Center, 100 N. Jackson St. entrance). Meet, greet and refreshments followed by a brief meeting and mini workshop. Guests are always welcome.
