The Art Shop in Darlington has announced that it will be closing later this month, following an announcement from the owners regarding the closure.
The store, located on Bondgate in the town, has been in Darlington for 70 years and will close on Saturday, June 28, at 4pm.
According to the statement, the owners, Ian and Lynda Hughes, will be stepping away from the business to retire after running the shop since 1988.
A statement, issued on the Art Shop social media page, noted that there will be 40 per cent off everything from now until its closure on June 28.

“The Art Shop has been in Darlington for 70 years and it is now time to close the doors on Saturday, June 28 at 4pm.

“We are having a winding-down clearance sale starting Thursday, June 12
until Saturday, June 28 – our final day
“40 per cent off everything in the shop. Paint, brushes, easels, greeting cards, pens, paper, canvases, pencils, kits, clay, mugs, cards.”
The owners said that ‘everything must go’ by the time they finish on June 28.

They also appealed to people who have gift vouchers to use them before the June 28 closure.
Picture Framing will no longer be available, according to the departing owners.
The statement added: “We have an unusual time ahead, and we thank you for your custom and your patience. We hope to see you soon.”
