A creative and psychoeducational art therapy programme is coming up in April and May aimed at connecting Greek and Turkish Cypriot adults through art, exploration and creative expression. Organised by the Association of Art Therapists and Friends, the programme’s goal is to foster dialogue, mutual understanding and mental resilience through art.
Four sessions are scheduled to take place in the mornings of April 12, May 3, 24 and 31 at the State Gallery of Contemporary Art – Majestic in Nicosia. Organised by four industry professionals (Vasiliki Papachristodoulou, Eleni Petridou, Marina Ioannou and Savina Ioannou), the workshops are free to attend thanks to funding by the Cyprus Youth Organisation and support by the deputy ministry of culture, though pre-registration is required. What’s more, these sessions will be conducted in English.
Happening on different floors of the gallery, the workshops will incorporate creative activities as tools for dialogue and therapy, guided tours of selected artworks and group discussions on themes of conflict, perception and resilience. Each session will offer a unique experience of collaboration and artistic expression, promoting peacebuilding and cultural understanding.
