FAIRLAWN, Ohio –Gallery owner and artist Lisa Yedidsion is taking some of art’s most iconic imagery and pairing it with food for a “Taste the Art” experience at The Emerald Hive Gallery in Fairlawn. Guests will view artwork and experience 15 paired tastes from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17. Tickets are $35 per single and $50 per couple with reservations required.
“I have an Andy Warhol in the gallery,” said Yedidsion. “We’re pairing that with a sample of soup.”
Of course, she is. What could be more appropriate given his recognizable Campbell’s Soup Cans collection? Warhol created 32 paintings for this series in 1962.
“We’re going to make a homemade pizza and cut it into pieces that fit together to look like Picasso’s cubism,” she said. Cubism was a significant part of the modern art movement in early 20th century.
And she’s planning to pair melting brie cheese with a Salvador Dali lithograph. Think the 1931 painting with melting clocks, perhaps the most recognizable work of the Surrealism genre.
The 1,800-square-foot Emerald Hive, which this month celebrates one year at its current location, offers a collection of paintings, sculptures, woodwork, ceramics, tapestries, textiles by local artists.
“It’s not a knick-knack shop, it’s more of a gallery,” says Yadidsion who is both businesswoman and artist.
The Emerald Hive is at 2855 West Market St., Fairlawn.
