Johnny Vegas, 54, was rocked by a shock health diagnosis while filming an ’emotional and enlightening’ art documentary.
The actor and comedian’s upcoming two-part Channel 4 show will see him create a piece of art for his hometown, St. Helens, in Merseyside.
Both instalments are set to be 60 minutes each, during which Johnny discovers he has ADHD.
Titled Johnny Vegas: Art, ADHD and Me, it will see the star embark on a ‘creative endeavour’ that ends up being a ‘journey of self-discovery’.
The documentary delves into ‘an honest and heartfelt conversation about mental health and understanding yourself’.

Speaking about the new show, Johnny revealed he was once a ‘dedicated wannabe ceramicist’.
He said: ‘I used to sit at a potter’s wheel on stage. People thought it was a gimmick but I actually started out as a dedicated wannabe ceramicist.
‘Art was my educational saviour. Over years of witnessing what felt like an ongoing decline in educational commitment to the very same arts I felt it was time I threw my hat back into the ring.
‘To kickstart a debate about culture in general, whilst giving something of a visual a symbol of gratitude back to my honestly beloved town.’
Channel 4 boss Shaminder Nahal revealed the documentary had been filmed over years and added: ‘This series brings to life the power of art for everyone – how it can soothe, help, energise and inspire.
‘Beautifully filmed over several years by Eddie Stafford, the series showcases Johnny’s unique humour, heart and passion – uncovering the intricacies and demands of artistic process along the way.
‘It’s an enlightening, eye-opening and emotional journey.’
While Adeel Amini, who is the Head of Entertainment at Rumpus Media, described the new series as unique.

‘Johnny Vegas is already well-known and revered as an actor and comedian, but now we’re thrilled to bring you his journey back to his first love: being an artist,’ Adeel said.
‘In this unique two-part series, Johnny tackles art and creativity with his trademark wit and humour, as well as a great deal of honesty and emotion, showing us a brand new side to one of Britain’s best-loved figures.’
It comes as a beloved ITV game show confirmed its epic return to our screens with a lineup of TV titans, including Johnny.
You Bet! On Tour, produced by Rollercoaster Television, will follow on from the very successful first season of You Bet! – which managed to reach 12 million viewers.
The official press release states that: ‘This time bigger and braver than ever, as it hits the road for more epic and unique challenges.’
The programme will be hosted by none other than Stephen Mulhern, 48.
And fans will be very impressed with the line-up, which will see the show travel up and down the country.
A range of famous faces will be taking part, including former host Holly Willoughby, 44, Danny Jones, 39, Johnny Vegas, and Alison Hammond, 50.

Speaking about the upcoming series, Stephen said: ‘I’m absolutely thrilled that You Bet! is back – and this time we’re hitting the road!
