ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) – Attention Southeast Minnesota art lovers: Rochester is the place to be.
The Med City Art Festival kicked off Friday morning in downtown Rochester’s Peace Plaza. The festival featured a variety of artistic mediums, including paintings, crafts, and performances. Vendors were able sell their wares and meet other artisans in the area.
Several dance exhibitions were seen at the festival, with Chinese Dance Theater taking a prominent spot in the festivities. For those wanting to get their grove on, the event offered a Latin dance class, teaching festival goers’ Brazilian samba.
“We have no limitation,” Executive Director Ivete Martinez said. “We welcome any kind of diversity. Because with the differences, we build up, we build the strength of our community. So that’s very important to me”
For Martinez, art is an inclusive endeavor that offers various benefits.
“There is a lot of research that research health [and] how health improves with doing craft and art,” Martinez said. “It’s kind of for the whole well-being.”
