Kinsey Robb, who took over Art Center Sarasota a year into the COVID pandemic and led it through a period of growth, is stepping down as executive director after three years.
Ramsey Frangie, president of the board of Sarasota’s oldest arts organization, said in a statement that Robb’s “inspirational guidance through unprecedented times has been instrumental in our growth and success.”
A statement from Art Center Sarasota said Robb plans to return to New York where she previously worked in the commercial art gallery field. The organization said she was planning to pursue new opportunities in the nonprofit visual arts sector.
Robb said the last three years have been “immensely rewarding. I am constantly inspired by the talent, enthusiasm and dedication of our artists and the Sarasota community.” In a statement, Robb said she is excited about Art Center Sarasota’s “growth and evolution. I feel incredibly fortunate to have called this vibrant place my home and look forward to staying connected with the many friends and colleagues I’ve had the privilege to work with.”
Frangie said the organization will launch a search for a new executive director soon. Art Center Sarasota found Robb through a months-long national search.
“Our plans include continuing to grow alongside The Bay project and ensuring Art Center Sarasota remains a vital part of this transformative development,” Frangie said.
The board of directors will host a reception to honor Robb and her contributions from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 17. The event is open to the public at the Art Center, 707 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. To RSVP: https://bit.ly/4ekBP8X.

Robb succeeded Lisa Berger, who had led Art Center Sarasota and served on its board over an eight-year period before leaving to become executive director of the Perlman Music Program/Suncoast.
Art Center Sarasota started in 1926 as the Sarasota Art Association, which was designed as a gathering place for artists and art lovers, with monthly meetings. It moved into its current home on U.S. 41 next door to the Sarasota Municipal Auditorium in 1949.
