MIAMI – Get ready to celebrate a century of style, music and culture this weekend in Miami Beach.
More than 50,000 visitors from around the globe are expected to immerse themselves in vintage charm as Art Deco Weekend 2025 marks a historic milestone: The Art Deco Centennial, commemorating 100 years of this iconic design style from 1925 to 2025.
Globally recognized as an Art Deco capital, Miami Beach is home to the largest concentration of Art Deco architecture in the world.
Its famed Art Deco Historic District, located in South Beach, features over 800 meticulously preserved buildings. These structures showcase the bold geometric shapes, pastel hues, and opulent designs that defined the 1920s and 1930s.
“There are going to be walking tours, lectures, music, dancing, a dog show, a fashion show, classic cars, and so much more,” said Daniel Ciraldo, Executive Director of the Miami Design and Preservation League, in an interview with CBS Miami.
Art Deco first gained prominence in Europe in the 1930s and 1940s before spreading to America and beyond. Miami Beach developed its own unique variation, known as Tropical Art Deco.
“Tropical Art Deco is low-rise and incorporates motifs like flamingos and mangroves to connect with the natural environment,” Ciraldo explained. “When you think of New York City, you imagine high-rises like the Empire State Building or the Chrysler Building. But in Miami Beach, our Art Deco style is more human-scale, reflecting a tropical beach vibe.”
The festival offers plenty of opportunities to step back in time, including free swing dance classes and performances.

Four-time world swing dance champion Yuval Hod, a South Florida resident, will perform alongside his dance partner of 10 years, Julija Slavikas. Hod will also lead dance lessons at the event.
This family-friendly celebration is free to attend and highlights the importance of preserving Miami Beach’s architectural treasures for future generations.
