Think fiber, dyed in incredible colors and how fibers can be woven and rearranged into a multitude of shapes,” said Chrissie Clapp, chairman of the Tehama Art Gallery show, Tactile Dimensions: Art of Texture And Space, to be conducted May 9-24 at the Gallery, 328 Oak St. Red Bluff.
Artists will explore the versatility of fibers and how they can be braided, twisted, knitted, crocheted, knotted into
forms and creations of art used in everyday life, Clapp added.
“Textured fibers in wood give us both rough and pokey or smooth surfaces to touch. They can be layered to create more textures,” she said.
Come meet the artists at the art show’s opening reception, Friday, May 9, 5:30-8pm.
Artists will utilize the tactile dimensions and versatility of fiber art to capture and imitate the textures found in the world around us,” Clapp said.
The show will include quilts, smaller than 24 inches wide; painted, woven, macrame and textured art works; also
photos and paintings showing texture and fibers.
Gallery hours are Fri. and Sat. 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Tehama County Arts Council. For more information go online to www.tehamaarts.org, or call (530) 278-5691.
