12 private homes in Leicester will open their doors to the general public over the weekend of Friday June 12th (6-8.30pm) and on Saturday and Sunday June 13th and 14th (11am-6pm) to show the work of over 80 local artists.

The art trail presents a range of original fine art in a wide variety of media that has recently attracted around 1500 visitors from Leicestershire and beyond.
The idea behind the event is encapsulated in their tagline -“extraordinary art in ordinary houses”. Painters, photographers, printmakers, jewellers, ceramicists, glassmakers and textile artists are able to exhibit their work in an informal domestic setting rather than in a gallery which also promotes the idea that an original artifact can enhance any home.

However, if you’ve ever been to Art House, you’ll know that none of the houses is ordinary but, sitting either side of the main A6 London Road, each is of interest in its unique architectural style and interior decor and quite a few open their gardens too. A free hopper bus will ensure you can visit them all.
Art House is very much a community event that relies on the goodwill of local householders, not all of whom are themselves artists, to put away their own ‘objets d’art’ and shift their furniture around to make space for the artists’ pieces. It is also totally dependent on its volunteer team of organisers.
The other amazing aspect is the fundraising achieved mainly through the Tart House hosts, along with their volunteer team of helpers who serve drinks and homemade cakes on Saturday and Sunday. Almost £5000 was raised in 2025 with contributions from the second refreshment hub serving Asian style snacks.
