A world-renowned art installation that recreates the magical phenomena of the Northern Lights is drawing crowds in Liverpool.
Around 45,000 visitors have already the Borealis at Royal Albert Dock, with local pubs and restaurants enjoying the economic Boost coming from the surge in customers.
The free 10 day event serves as a symbol of seasonal change, celebrating the arrival of the longer, brighter days ahead.
The art installation, created by artist Dan Acher, combines technology and the elements using beams of light to travel through cloud particles, creating a magical illusion of the Northern Lights.
With nature having the final say on the effects of the artwork, the display is different every time depending on the wind variations, humidity and temperature. The lights are accompanied by an atmospheric soundtrackby French composer Guillaume Desbois.
Borealis has captivated audiences across the world, after exhibits in over 40 cities across Europe, Australia, Asia and the US, including Tokyo, Melbourne and Paris.
The installation is display until Sunday 30 March.
