The nationally prominent Plaza Art Fair, which has been an annual celebration since 1932, returns to the streets of Kansas City’s Country Club Plaza this weekend.
One significant change is that the festival will close earlier than in recent years on Friday and Saturday nights. Instead of 10 both nights, closing time will be 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, and 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20.
More than 250,000 people are expected to view paintings, drawings, sculptures and photography by about 240 artists from around the nation. In addition, visitors will find three stages of live music and more than 20 restaurant booths.
Here’s what you need to know if you’re planning to go.
Plaza Art Fair
When: Hours will be 5-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20; 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21.
Where: Booths stretch over nine city blocks in the heart of the Country Club Plaza.
Admission: Free.
Parking: All Country Club Plaza parking garages are open and free to the public.
Street closures: Nichols Road between Pennsylvania and Wyandotte, Ward Parkway between Pennsylvania and Central Street, Broadway between 47th Street and Ward Parkway, Central Street between Nichols and Ward Parkway.

Portable toilets will be located at most entrances and exits to the fair area.
