The 1930s-style residence used to stand within the old, long-gone St Alban’s House estate, on the edge of Lyme Regis.
The home, on the corner of Colway Lane and Charmouth Road, was formerly part of the St Albans Outdoor Centre and the entire site was demolished in 2016 to make way for the Woodberry housing estate in Lyme.
It was originally advertised as being a complete renovation project or as land for a new build.
Haydon Finch Studio, which is behind the replacement homes, says the project is ‘a complete development opportunity to create two highly efficient contemporary residences’.
The land offers sweeping sea views over the Cobb Harbour.
Lyme resident Paul Starck shared these photos of the demolition with the News.
He said: “The house is (quite rightly) being pitched as either a house in need of complete renovation or as land for apartments or a new-build house.
“Obviously I would like to see this house being returned to its former glory, but at the end of the day money talks and the best offer will get it, whatever the intended project.”
The original home sat in a third of an acre of land and it was advertised by estate agents Humberts as accommodation extending over three floors, with a roof terrace.
The total living space was around 2,381 sq. ft and the guide price was £400,000.

Mr Starck said the property was ‘a nice looking home’ and that many local people would have memories of St Albans House.
“Many schoolchildren went to St Albans and spent time there during the school holidays.”
He said the owner of St Albans lived in the home.
“The home had a beautiful frontage. This place was the last straggler.
“I think a lot of people around here wanted to see something done.”
