Louis Vuitton Announces Art Deco Exhibition in Paris

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, which took place in Paris in 1925, Louis Vuitton has announced a new exhibition titled Louis Vuitton Art Deco Exhibition, opening on September 26th at LV Dream in Paris.

This immersive experience explores the historic events that contributed to the Art Deco Movement and revisits Louis Vuitton’s presentation at the 1925 exhibition. The exhibition will honor the legacy of Gaston-Louis Vuitton, the grandson of the House’s founder, and celebrate his creative innovation in helping to form the brand’s artistic vision early in the 20th century.

By directly interacting with the applied arts through collaborations with artists and designers such as Pierre-Émile Legrain, Camille Cless-Brothier, and Gaston Le Bourgeois, Gaston-Louis Vuitton employed his artistic sensibility to shape the aesthetic of the House. These collaborations will be celebrated at the exhibition under the banner Éditions d’art.

The exhibition will span across eight distinct rooms, showcasing over 300 heritage objects and archival materials, many never before seen to the public. One room, titled the Family Heritage Room, focuses on the House’s early years and Gaston-Louis Vuitton’s upbringing and artistic journey. Further along in the exhibition, a room titled Art Deco Manifesto, showcases Louis Vuitton’s technical and design language that defined the House in its early years, evident in Louis Vuitton’s auto trunk and wardrobe trunk.

The Louis Vuitton Art Deco Exhibition revisits the House’s deep connection with the Art Deco movement and highlights its lasting impact on the brand today.
